NPH Dominican Republic is happy and proud to announce the inauguration of a new project “Niños de Dios” or “God’s Kids” home located in Monte Plata. It is a temporary home for children who need emergency or short-term care, with the hope of being reunited with their family. On December 2nd, we celebrated the opening of this new and exciting project.
This day was possible only with the support of our NPH Dominican Republic Board of Directors, and other collaborators. The local chaplain also participated in this special day and blessed our project. After mass, various children from NPH DR shared their talents with us by performing.
The home currently has five children who all receive special attention from caregiver Mireya and our other staff. Mireya is one of the original seven pequeños that NPH DR welcomed in 2003. Fourteen years later she is a part of this new beginning and hope for children in high-risk situations.
Mireya (pictured above with four of the children at the home) shares, “For me, it is of great satisfaction and joy to be a part of this program and especially because it reminds me of the love and care that was given to me. I am reminded of what our founder Father Willam Wasson started. I am here to help the children and to pass on the unconditional love that was shared with me”.
We would like to thank our community for helping us in this new endeavor and want to give a special thank you to Doctor Joan Harper, for her confidence in our organization and blessing us by bringing “Niños de Dios” into our family.
