NPH creates community impact in many ways to support children in poverty and families across our homes in Latin America and the Caribbean. Discover the impact we make through our programs and partnerships.
Poverty can place families under severe strain and, in some cases, lead to separation when parents lack the resources to provide safe care. Our annual Impact Report highlights how NPH is creating lasting change for children in poverty and their families through education, healthcare, family support services, and youth development programs.
This year’s Impact Report brings together program updates, data, and stories from the field to show how NPH supports children in poverty and their families across Latin America and the Caribbean. You’ll see how long-term partnership and community-based work translate into real outcomes over time.

Dr. Jeffrey Kempf, National Board Chair, NPH USA
Dear Friends,
“If you want to change the world, start with the children.”
These words from our founder, Father William Wasson, continue to guide everything we do at NPH. For more than 70 years, children have been at the heart of our mission and remain at the center of all we do today. Whether in our residential homes or through our community strengthening programs, every action we take begins with the child in mind. Across Latin America and the Caribbean, NPH has been a beacon of hope — a place where vulnerable children and families discover not just shelter and education, but love, dignity, and opportunity. Through our holistic programs and the life-saving care at St. Damien Pediatric Hospital in Haiti, we are planting seeds of transformation — one life, one family, one community at a time.
The world around us is changing faster than ever. Violence, food insecurity, economic instability, and unrest threaten the lives of countless children. Yet, even amid these storms, NPH stands firm. Guided by our core values of Love and Security, Responsibility, Sharing, Work, Faith, and Service, we continue to grow and evolve — not by moving away from who we are, but by leaning more deeply into our mission to break the cycle of poverty through compassion, opportunity, and purpose.
Every challenge calls us to be bolder. Every child’s story inspires us to reach higher. And every act of kindness — every gift from generous supporters like you — builds the foundation for a future filled with promise. Because of you, children are not only surviving; they are thriving. They are dreaming bigger dreams, stepping into leadership, and lifting up their communities with the same spirit of service and hope that once lifted them. This 2024 Impact Report is a celebration of what we can achieve together. It is a testament to the extraordinary ripple effect of your belief in our mission — a belief that when you nurture a child’s potential, you truly change the world.
Thank you for walking with us, for believing in the power of love to heal and transform, and for helping us write the next chapter of NPH’s extraordinary story. With heartfelt gratitude and hope,

Education and Development
Through NPH’s recurring giving programs, monthly supporters help sustain the education, health care, and family support services that children in poverty and their families rely on every day. This steady support allows NPH to walk alongside families over time, strengthen homes, expand access to quality education and health care and wellbeing services.
Programs like Heroes of Hope, Hearts for Haiti, and child sponsorship offer different ways to participate in this long-term work, each focused on meeting real needs with consistency and care.
At St. Damien Pediatric Hospital in Haiti, NPH provides life-saving pediatric and critical high-risk maternal healthcare for children and expectant mothers with limited access to medical services. Our doctors, nurses, and staff deliver care with dignity and expertise — from emergency interventions to ongoing treatment — helping children heal and guiding families through some of their most critical moments.

Poverty often forces families apart, as parents may lack resources to provide care for their children. NPH prioritizes the safety, well-being, and rights of each child, working to reconnect them with family members whenever it’s safe and feasible. With careful planning and support, children and adolescents are reintegrated into their biological families. Specialists, including psychologists and social workers, provide targeted support and ongoing monitoring to safeguard children and empower them to thrive.
Underprivileged communities often lack fundamental social services, including access to healthy food, education, child daycare, therapy, or medical care. NPH identifies and addresses these critical gaps. It’s not merely what NPH provides to help children and families, but how they provide compassionate and holistic care. Throughout the decades, NPH has maintained exceptional schools, medical clinics, food and agricultural programs, and vocational and life skills training initiatives, helping interrupt the cycle of generational poverty and promote long term well-being.
NPH began by offering homes to highly vulnerable children who were orphaned or abandoned—raising and nurturing them together in a loving family environment. These homes were built alongside medical clinics, schools, farms, therapy centers, and chapels to support comprehensive child development. Currently, these homes shelter children who cannot be fully reintegrated with biological family members for various reasons, while also extending support to hundreds of children in surrounding communities through “on-campus” services and programs.
Read on to discover how, together, we are delivering hope, opportunity and a way forward for this generation and future ones.
