Holiday Celebrations at NPH Peru

NPH PeruWith the support of our local priest and our leadership group, we assemble and give small bags of cooking essentials to local people in the community. If our small bodega has items that are not being used or if the children have toys that are no longer being used, we also give those out to the community.

Our most popular tradition at the home is called “chocolatada.” Many locals donate hot chocolate, “paneton” (a sweet bread with dried fruit inside), toys for the younger children, and clothes for the older children. There is also a clown show. There are many chocolatadas up until December 24.

On Christmas Eve, the children get dressed up and we go to Mass in the local church. That is followed by a special dinner for our whole family. After dinner, Papa Noel arrives with bags of gifts.
