Donation – In Loving Memory of Dr. Guillermo “Bill” Stavinoha

It is with deep sadness that I share these words, drawn from my own experience working closely with Drs. Stavinoha. I also attach a few images that reflect the profound impact they had on our community.
Dr. Guillermo Stavinoha, whom we affectionately called Bill, and our dear Dr. Susan Stavinoha, gave us the immense privilege of their presence at NPH Honduras for more than a decade. Beginning in 2011, Dr. Guillermo volunteered two to three months each year, offering prolonged stays that left an indelible mark on children, youth, elders, volunteers, staff, and above all, on countless patients.
Throughout his visits, Dr. Guillermo worked tirelessly and closely with doctors, nurses, therapists, and volunteers, both in the Internal Clinic—supporting consultations and emergencies—and in the External Clinic, where he shared his knowledge and provided medical care of the highest quality. He also actively participated in multiple medical brigades, both with One World Surgery and in community programs, bringing hope and dignified care to communities with limited access to health services.
In an especially humane and compassionate way, Dr. Guillermo accompanied and cared for terminal cancer patients, offering not only his professional expertise, but also words of comfort, empathy, and a reassuring presence during moments of great vulnerability. His dedication always went beyond the clinical; he was, above all, a deeply human doctor.
Originally from Texas, and deeply loved by all who knew him, Dr. Guillermo continued serving until his own illness made it impossible for him to return around 2024. He has now passed away after his own battle with cancer.
The legacy of Dr. Guillermo Stavinoha, and the constant support of Dr. Susan Stavinoha, lives on in every life touched, every professional inspired, and every grateful smile they left behind. Their example of selfless service, generosity, and love for others will remain forever in the heart of the NPH family.
My heartfelt condolences to their loved ones.
With gratitude and sorrow,
