Guest Speaker

Miriam Yaquelin Garcia came to NPH with her seven siblings when she was 10 years old, and her youngest sister was 2 years old. Miriam’s father and mother died, leaving the eight children without anyone to care for them. Nobody would take in all the siblings and keep them together, except for NPH.

Miriam received a great education at NPH and felt safe at the ranch, giving her a happy childhood. She studied school in the Honduran ranch and then went to Tegucigalpa to study high school and college. In college Miriam studied to become a Registered Nurse, working two years in a public hospital in the city. Today she works at One World Surgery as a Quality and education coordinator in Honduras.

Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH) means “Our Little Brothers and Sisters” in Spanish. NPH USA transforms the lives of vulnerable children in Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Peru. Together, we help children overcome poverty and become productive, caring leaders in their own communities. Founded in 1954 by Father William Wasson, NPH is supporting nearly 7,000 children, both inside and outside our homes, ensuring they have a safe and nurturing place to live, an education, clothing, healthcare, and a strong family support system.
