Service Immersion Trip to NPH Guatemala

NPH GuatemalaSpend a long Presidents’ Day Weekend experiencing first-hand how Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH, Spanish for “Our Little Brothers and Sisters”) transforms the lives of orphaned, abandoned and at-risk children. You will meet the amazing children, staff and volunteers of NPH Guatemala and learn the ins and outs of their daily lives. The trip is focused on 7th and 8th graders (and their chaperones) from Faith Hope and Charity Parish in Winnetka, IL.

About NPH Guatemala

Opened in 1996, NPH Guatemala is home to approximately 230 children. The home, Casa San Andres, is located 90 minutes west of Guatemala City, the nation’s capital. It is situated 5,800 feet above sea level in Guatemala’s beautiful central highlands, very close to the famous colonial capital of Antigua. Casa San Andres has approximately 25 acres of land with a Montessori preschool/ kindergarten, primary and middle schools, vocational workshops, clinic, athletic fields, a farm and greenhouses.

Trip Schedule

Travel days of Thursday, February 15 and Tuesday, February 20. While the children of NPH Guatemala are in school on Friday and Monday, you will do light chores at NPH (landscaping, helping out on the farm, working in the kitchen, assisting with special needs children, etc.). Relax or hang out with the pequeños in the afternoon, join them for their evening meal, help them with their homework, or play with them. On Saturday and Sunday, you will attend Mass with the children, help them with their chores, and participate in activities with them.

Cost: $1,420 per person

Price includes:

  • Roundtrip airfare from Chicago, IL to Guatemala City
  • Accommodations and meals at NPH Guatemala
  • Local transportation
  • NPH USA interpreter and guide
  • Traveler’s insurance
  • Trip t-shirt

Payment Schedule

  • Application and $200 non-refundable deposit due November 10, 2017
  • $1,220 balance due December 22, 2017
