Supporting the Children in honor of Elaine and Ross
![]() Elaine worked at the NPH clinic in Miacatlán, Mexico, several times during her medical school and residency years. During medical school, she helped with annual physical exams of the children and, during residency, she spent two separate months there completing a TB screening project. While there, she spent her free time playing with the “pequeños” who immediately stole her heart. Their resilience, loving nature, and selflessness were inspiring. Ross has now been there also. Ross and Elaine sponsor a child there named Diana, a sweet, intelligent girl who loves to play soccer. Elaine first met her in the clinic when Elaine was a medical student. There was a Chicken Pox outbreak (they don’t routinely vaccinate against Chicken Pox in Mexico) and Diana was quarantined with other children in the clinic. Elaine got to see her every day in the clinic and got to know her well. Now they get to spend time together every time Elaine visits! Ross and Elaine love sending and receiving letters from Diana while they’re apart. Funds donated via this page will go towards the Miacatlán home where Elaine worked and Diana lives! NPH USA transforms the lives of vulnerable children in Latin America and the Caribbean by supporting the homes, health services and educational programs of Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH, Spanish for “Our Little Brothers and Sisters”). Together, we help children overcome poverty and become leaders in their own communities. Donations to NPH USA, Federal Tax ID # 65-1229309, are tax-deductible as provided by law and subject to our donation disclosure statements. |
