Regional Director’s Message

Dear Friend of NPH,

It’s a challenge to raise funds and awareness here in the Midwestern states for programs located in countries thousands of miles away.

Don’t get me wrong; I’m not complaining. Rather, I’m just reminding you of the realities of geography and the fact that our donors receive no direct benefit from the services provided by NPH. We are not a hospital where you can be healed and give back to later out of gratefulness. We aren’t a church where you go to worship, receive food for your soul, and put your weekly envelope in the collection basket. Neither are we a college or private high school where you received the benefit of a four-year educational experience and that you give back to when good old alma mater calls or writes and pulls on your heartstrings.

NPH USA does what it can to make the mission real. We want our donors and friends to experience the mission as much as possible. Easier said than done when you are here and the programs are way over there, right? Two of the ways we try to have you experience the mission are by running periodic trips to our orphanage homes and by bringing children from those homes up to the U.S. for fundraising and awareness raising tours.

I encourage you to experience the NPH mission this year either through attending a 2017 Pequeño Tour event or participating in one of our trips to an NPH home.

From March 6-19, 12 pequeños from our NPH Nicaragua home will be in the Chicago area on a fundraising and awareness raising tour of churches, schools, and businesses. We would love for you to experience the mission through the Nicaraguan pequeños as they perform folkloric music and dance at various locations in and around Chicago. Please note that you need to let us know in advance if you wish to attend any performance other than a weekend Mass. Contact info to do that is on our Midwest Pequeño Tour web page.
