West and South Area

Regional Director’s Message

Warm fall greetings from the Northwest team at NPH USA!

Last month, I shared my excitement at returning to NPH Honduras with a group of supporters from the Northwest. This month, Noel Rees shares her reflection about our trip and what it meant for her and her daughters to return to Rancho Santa Fe and visit their godchildren. Noel’s account reminded me how important it is for all of us to simply be in solidarity and friendship with the children, staff, and volunteers at NPH. It is both your financial support and your love, presence and prayers that truly make a difference in the lives of our kids – thank you!

As fall begins we look forward to returning to Spokane for a benefit concert hosted by the High Country Orchard winery and featuring Run Boy Run, an acoustic bluegrass and folk band that has appeared on NPR’s A Prairie Home Companion and won many accolades and prizes. We hope those of you in the Spokane area will join us. We are also excited to announce that the musicians and dancers of NPH Nicaragua will be returning to Seattle for a Pequeño Tour October 22-Nov 2. During their visit families from St. Anne parish and St. James Cathedral will host and welcome them to celebrate Mass in their communities. Several other local churches, schools and businesses will also be sponsoring events – and they will also perform at our annual Gala on October 24th at Newcastle Golf Club. Former NPH Seattle Leadership student Jacinto Arias will be returning as our keynote speaker, along with his brother, Wilmer, who is also a leader at NPH Guatemala. And the talented and fun band Brian DiJulio and the Love Jacks will keep everyone dancing after the dinner and auction. Please join us!

Finally, we are thrilled to welcome the fifth annual cohort of leadership students from NPH who will be living with host families in the Seattle area this year and studying English and leadership over the next ten months. We can’t wait to get to know and support them and we’re very grateful to the host families, mentors and others who support them through this unique program. We look forward to introducing them to all of you in the coming months!

With gratitude,

Katie Hultquist
