$80,000+ Raised on #Giving Tuesday!
On December 1, 2020 – the Tuesday after Thanksgiving – NPH USA was once again part of the #Giving Tuesday Movement.
12/3/2020 UPDATE: THANK YOU to everyone who participated in #GivingTuesday! After meeting the full matching opportunities through Cauze, from ‘the Giving Pirates’ and ‘Seahurst Pediatrics’, we raised over $80,000 to support the nutrition programs in our homes – that’s 100,000 meals for the children of NPH!!! We are SO incredibly grateful for your support – please know your generosity will make an enormous impact in the lives of the children in our homes!
GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea: to create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past eight years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. Held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, GivingTuesday kicks off the holiday giving season. The goal is to inspire people to take collaborative action to give in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support to transform their communities and the world.
Since 2012, NPH USA donors have given more than $127,000 on GivingTuesday. “We are so grateful for the support of our many donors,” states Molly Boyum, Chief Development Officer of NPH USA. “Their generosity is helping to transform the lives of thousands of children and families throughout Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Peru through the vital programs of Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH, Spanish for ‘Our Little Brothers and Sisters’).”
This year, NPH USA is partnering with Cauze who will match every gift made up to $20,000 total to help provide nutritious food for the children of NPH on their platform! Over half the children in the developing world are severely deprived of basic necessities, including proper nutrition, adequate shelter, safe water and quality health care. These children are often malnourished – not eating enough food and/or consuming a vitamin-and mineral poor diet. They are more likely to die from preventable diseases and less likely to grow, learn, advance developmentally or succeed in school.
Many of our NPH children suffered from illness and malnutrition before joining our family. Improving their health and keeping them healthy is a priority. Each day they receive three meals, typically consisting of rice, beans and some form of animal protein, and up to two snacks. Across the NPH homes, more than 16,000 meals are served each day.
