School Sponsorship Program

The School Sponsorship Program connects U.S. students with an NPH supported child, living in one of our residential care homes or the surrounding community.

Whether you choose to sponsor a student as a classroom, club or whole school, you will help provide food, clothing, health care, education and a safe and loving home for one or many children in our care. Through letters and the opportunity to visit, students can form a lasting friendship and provide critical support to a child in need.

Our Mission

Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH) means “Our Little Brothers and Sisters” in Spanish. Founded in 1954 by Father William Wasson, NPH has transformed the lives of tens of thousands of the most vulnerable children and young adults, providing a nurturing family environment, education, health care, and vocational and life skills training.

NPH USA helps children in Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Peru achieve their full potential, becoming productive, caring leaders in their communities and breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty.

NPH also fills a vital, lifesaving role with its operation of St. Damien Pediatric Hospital, the only hospital wholly dedicated to pediatric and high-risk maternity care in Haiti, and the only Haitian hospital equipped to provide pediatric oncology care.

• Your sponsored child’s annual school progress report
• Personal letters from your sponsored child in their language, accompanied by English translations
• Tools to help incorporate the unique benefits of child sponsorship into your curriculum

Tools for Educators

Our free materials help students explore many subjects, including:

• CULTURE AND GEOGRAPHY: Fact sheets and videos teach about the countries we serve, including traditions and the daily lives of the children you help support.
• ECONOMICS: Charts help students keep track of the money collected to support the sponsored child.
• LANGUAGE SKILLS: Students write to their sponsored child and receive letters in return in Spanish or French with English translations.
• READING: Newsletters and reports can be used for class discussion and to improve reading skills.
• SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY: Visiting nphusa.org and nph.org with your class offers students the opportunity to develop computer skills and learn how to follow instructions.
• TEAMWORK: Have students work together to fundraise for their child sponsorship.
