About the Collaborative
The St. Damien Collaborative for the Improvement of Pediatrics in Haiti is a unique partnership of pediatric residency programs from Haiti and the United States. The collaborative consists of St.Damien Hospital in Port-Au-Prince along with Akron Children’s Hospital, Brown University, the University of Massachusetts, Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, The Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters, the University of Minnesota, The University of Nebraska, Dell Children’s Hospital, and Baystate Children’s Hospital.

The members of the collaborative work together to elevate the standard of pediatric health care throughout Haiti, primarily through our work to support a new pediatric residency program centered at St. Damien Hospital, Haiti’s only free-standing children’s hospital. Now in its second year of existence, the new pediatric residency program at St. Damien is training 6 new pediatricians each year to provide excellently trained doctors for the many needy children of Haiti. The St. Damien Collaborative works to support the training of these pediatricians through the bi-directional exchange of personnel, education, and quality improvement support between St. Damien Hospital and the U.S. partner sites.
