Regional Director’s Message

Summer greetings from Ross, Glory, Cristi and Katie! We’ve just wrapped up our successful third annual NPH USA Northwest Golf Classic, raising more than $121,000 for the children of NPH.  What a fun day of golf, games, food, and supporting NPH – one of our favorite days of the year.  We are so grateful to our golf committee, who helped us expand to two courses this year, and our 44 corporate sponsors who made the day possible.  You can read more about the tournament and see the speech one of our Seattle Leadership Students, Mariela, gave here.

We’re also thrilled that nine NPH staff and emerging leaders, many of whom are former pequeños, have arrived in Seattle for a month-long leadership training with our partner organization, iLEAP.  On their first day in Seattle the group went to the Sounders FC game with host families, Seattle Institute students and other local NPH Board members.  Many thanks to the Sounders for donating the tickets to NPH USA!  We were excited to welcome these NPH leaders to our June regional Board meeting as well.  You can catch up with Celson, Wendy, Karina, Billy Jean, Edgar, Carmina, Jader, Ana Maria, and Marvin at the graduation of this year’s class of Seattle Institute students on Sunday, June 25th.  We will celebrate Mass together at 3pm at St. Louise Parish in Bellevue, followed by a potluck dinner and graduation.  This will be a great opportunity to congratulate our students on their hard work this year and catch up with a few of our National Directors.  Please contact the office at infonw@nphusa.org for more details or to RSVP.

Coming up next is our Associate Board’s annual Hunt for Hope on June 24th in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle.  Hunt for Hope is a fun urban scavenger hunt where teams compete for prizes and raise money for NPH.  The fun starts at Optimism Brewing in Seattle at 1pm. Check out all the details and register your team here!

Finally, last chance to sign up for our trip to NPH Guatemala July 1-7, led by NPH’s Director of Family Services, Donna Egge, and Northwest Development Manager Ross Egge, who recently returned from an 11-year stint working in the NPH homes. This will be a special opportunity to visit one of our most beautiful homes, with the guidance of Northwest natives and NPH experts! You can also tack on a couple of days to visit Antigua and other sites before heading back to the U.S. Join us!

We would love to connect with you 1:1 over the summer to update you on what’s happening with your godchildren, at NPH, or here in the Northwest.  Please give us a call or drop us a line so that we may find a time to meet for coffee, lunch, or even a walk.  In the meantime, we hope you enjoy a relaxing summer with your friends and family, and feel proud of your connection with NPH.  Your support has truly changed thousands of lives.

With gratitude,

Katie Hultquist
