How NPH Walks with Children and Families
NPH supports children and families across Latin America and the Caribbean through a holistic, lifelong approach. This page explains our three pillars of care and how they support children and families over time.
At NPH, we believe lasting change requires more than a single program or moment of support. It takes a coordinated, holistic approach that walks with children and families at every stage of life. Through our three pillars of care—Residential Care, Community Programs, and St. Damien Pediatric Hospital—we protect children in times of crisis, strengthen families, and deliver life-saving care, ensuring children not only survive hardship, but grow into empowered adults who strengthen their communities.
Learn more about our three pillars below and how each one plays a vital role in forming a lifelong support system for children and families.
For children without parental support or living in unsafe environments, NPH provides a loving, stable home rooted in dignity and belonging. Within our residential communities, children receive education, healthcare, emotional support, and faith formation—along with the consistency and care every child deserves.
Our commitment does not end at childhood. It grows into mentorship, higher education, and lifelong connection, ensuring each child is supported well beyond their earliest years.
While Residential Care provides stability for children who cannot remain safely at home, NPH’s Community Programs focus on helping families stay together whenever possible.
Across Latin America and the Caribbean, we work alongside parents and caregivers to address the root causes of vulnerability—expanding access to education, healthcare, vocational training, and family support services. By strengthening families within their own communities, we help create safer, more stable futures for children and reduce the need for separation.
When illness or medical crisis threatens a child’s life, NPH’s care extends to the place where urgency is greatest.
St. Damien Pediatric Hospital serves as a vital lifeline for children and high-risk mothers in Haiti, where access to specialized healthcare is extremely limited. As the country’s only pediatric hospital and a leader in maternal and pediatric care, St. Damien provides life-saving treatment to thousands of patients each year. Here, advanced medicine is delivered with compassion, dignity, and deep respect for families navigating their most vulnerable moments.
Together, these three pillars form one unified mission: to meet children where they are, respond to the full complexity of their needs, and walk alongside families as they build healthier, more resilient futures. The impact numbers below show how this commitment comes to life every day, across homes, communities, and hospital walls.
