Northwest Update – August 2015

NW_HON_2015-1Summer greetings from the Northwest team at NPH USA! We hope you are enjoying time to relax with family and friends this month.

It has been our great pleasure to bring four groups from the Northwest to visit the NPH homes in Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua this summer. I was delighted to return to Rancho Santa Fe in Honduras in July with a group from the Seattle area – returning to the first NPH home I ever visited. It was the same peaceful and joyful place that I remembered, but with many incredible improvements, including a new kitchen, new roofs on many of the houses and a greatly expanded surgery center onsite. I was truly impressed! It was also wonderful to see many of the NPH students from Honduras who have participated in leadership programs in Seattle in their home.

While we were in Honduras, the Northwest Associate Board was busy with one of their biggest fundraisers of the year, Hunt for Hope. Now in its third year, Hunt for Hope is an annual urban scavenger hunt bringing NPH supporters and new friends together to have fun and support NPH. This year’s event was held in Ballard and raised more than $5,000, including 7 new child sponsors! Many thanks to the Associate Board for their commitment and success spreading the word about NPH and our children!

We are now preparing for a busy fall leading up to our annual Gala on October 24th at Newcastle Golf Club. Former NPH Seattle Leadership student Jacinto Arias will be returning as our keynote speaker, along with his brother, Wilmer, who is also a leader at NPH Guatemala. We are also excited to announce that for the first time in 7 years, we will be welcoming a group of dancers and musicians from NPH Nicaragua back to Seattle for our 2015 Pequeño Tour. They will be performing at the Gala and around the Seattle area at local churches, schools, and other venues. Please let us know if you would like to get involved and help us plan their visit.

Have a wonderful end of summer and we look forward to seeing you this fall!

With gratitude,

Katie Hultquist
Northwest Regional Director
