A Saint Among Us: Fr. Wasson’s Canonization Process Begins
Join us in celebrating this sacred milestone for the NPH family.
We are honored to share truly historic news with our NPH USA family: the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cuernavaca, Mexico, Ramón Castro Castro, has officially commenced the beginning of the canonization process for our beloved founder, Fr. William Wasson.
This remarkable step marks the formal recognition of what so many of us already believe in our hearts — that we have lived among a saint.
Fr. Wasson’s quiet revolution of love began in 1954 in Cuernavaca, Mexico. From a single act of compassion, he created a family that has grown across nine countries, transforming the lives of thousands of vulnerable children with dignity, purpose, and unconditional love. For many who grew up in NPH homes, he was not only a founder, but a father figure and source of unwavering belief.
His legacy continues to shape generations through the work of our Hermanos Mayores (“Older Siblings”), caregivers, and staff who carry forward his mission. Thanks to the dedication of the NPH USA team—and in partnership with the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix, John P. Dolan—we are proud to have played a role in helping initiate this sacred process.
As we celebrate this announcement during the Easter season — a time of renewal and resurrection — we invite you to reflect on Fr. Wasson’s legacy and continue walking with us in faith, hope, and action.
Fr. Wasson believed in creating a family where every child is seen, heard, and loved. As we honor his path to sainthood, you can help carry his mission forward.
Make a gift today and be part of his living legacy.
With gratitude and hope,
Casey Guevara-Lehker
President and CEO
