Action Against Hunger pioneered some of the earliest formulas and approaches to treating malnourished children. Around the world, our teams work in health centers, on mobile teams, and in communities to find cases of malnutrition and ensure that children receive lifesaving treatment. Every year, our community-based nutrition programs reach hundreds of thousands of mothers and children.
Our teams train community health workers to educate mothers, fathers, and other caregivers about the benefits of breastfeeding and improved nutrition to help babies and young children grow up strong and healthy.
We also teach parents to use simple tools to detect malnutrition at home, without the help of a health worker. This way, they can monitor their children’s nutrition status regularly and – if needed – get them treated as soon as possible.

Yes. Individual donors can designate a donation toward a specific project if it is included in the NPH general budget or if the National Board has passed a resolution to support a specific project.
Why doesn’t NPH USA accept donations for projects outside of the budget?
Because we are supporting a foreign organization (NPH), the IRS has very specific regulations. These regulations require that NPH USA clearly state what we are supporting NPH. To support the greatest needs of NPH, the NPH USA National Board has passed a resolution to support the NPH budget. The NPH budget is determined by the NPH National Directors and NPH International. The National Board can also pass additional resolutions to support specific projects, if deemed appropriate. If a donor designates outside of what has been approved by the National Board, the donation is not tax deductible according to the IRS regulations AND could also put our organization in jeopardy of maintaining our charitable status.
How much money does NPH USA give to NPH?
NPH USA does much more than just give money to NPH. We fund all costs in the U.S. for the international volunteer program and in-kind donation program. We also fund the U.S. education of specific pequeños and the entire communication process between pequeños and their U.S. sponsors. In strictly numerical terms, in Fiscal Year 2024, thanks to the continued generosity of our loyal supporters, NPH USA raised a total of $16.2 million. This level of donor support allowed NPH USA to in-turn provide NPH International with $12.6 million of funding for programs benefiting children and families.
