About
Join a Certified Sommelier and the NPH NW Associate Board from 7:00 – 8:00 PM (PST) to learn about two women-owned and grown wineries and the women’s empowerment programs of Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos! We will be tasting three delicious wines with the help of Sommelier and NPH supporter Tim Kenneally. Also joining us is former Family Services Coordinator for NPH International, Avriel Burlot, to share about the Chicas Poderosas programs (“Powerful Girls” in Spanish).
You must be 21 years or older to participate!
Meet our Sommelier and Host, Tim Kenneally!
Tim grew up in Sonoma County and had an early exposure to the wine industry. Having worked over 30 years in both Fine Dining and Wine Distribution, he brings a wealth of knowledge and passion with him to this event! He has passed both the Certified Wine Specialist and Certified Spirits Specialist exams given by the Society of Wine Educators. He is a Certified Sommelier in the Court of Master Sommeliers and has passed the Italian Wine Specialist, Rioja Wine Specialist, California Appelation Specialty exams, and WSET 2 and 3 examinations.
Meet our special guest speaker, Avriel Burlot!
Avriel began her NPH journey in 2011, serving at our NPH home in the Dominican Republic as the Communication Officer and Project Coordinator. After two years she moved to Haiti to serve as their Communication Specialist. After returning to the States in 2014, she worked closely with the NPH Northwest Associate Board and volunteered with the local NPH USA office and Leadership Institute. In 2015 Avriel became the International Volunteer Coordinator, supporting the on-site international volunteers and their local Volunteer Coordinators. In 2017 she also added Family Services Coordinator to her resume, and planned and facilitated the annual International Youth Conference for youth from each NPH home! We are thrilled to hear from Avriel regarding the opportunities and support NPH offers our pequeños, particularly young women and girls through the Chicas Poderosas program.
Wines we’ll be Tasting:
Domain Chandon Brut
From the Chandon website:“Crisp, fresh and effortlessly cool, our Chandon Brut is your go-to choice bubbly for entertaining, sipping and gifting. A classic expression of our California vineyards, signature green apple, pear and citrus notes precede a soft, dry finish.”
Order the Brut from your local Total Wine here –>
McBride Sisters Sauvignon Blanc (2019)
From the McBride Sisters Website: “Generous tropical fruits pair with lemongrass and citrus aromas. Ripe peach and mango aromas play with greener fruits like feijoa and Fuji apple. In the mouth, key lime flavors hang on a medium full, slightly oily body, which contrasts beautifully with the firm acidity and slightly mineral tone on the finish.”
Order the Sauvignon Blanc from your local Total Wine here –>
OR
Apothic Cabernet Sauvignon OR Red Blend
From the Apothic Website:
“Apothic Cab offers the big presence of a classic Cab with a silky touch. Signature layers of blackberry compote and black currant wrap around hints of mocha and vanilla. Blending the wine with Zinfandel delivers the complexity of Cabernet with billowy tannins that glide across the palate, smooth as silk.”
Order the Cabernet Sauvignon from your local Total Wine here –>
From the Apothic Website:
“A daringly original blend, Apothic Red brings together the dark fruit of Zinfandel, silkiness and depth of Cabernet Sauvignon, and boldness of Merlot. Generous notes of blueberry, plum and subtle spice finish with long-lasting notes of soft vanilla and mocha create an intriguing intensity and luscious texture.”
