Celebrate Her: Our Region’s Inspiring Women

NPH is a conscious participant in the ongoing global effort to educate, support, and empower women and girls to realize their fullest potential. This not only benefits NPH Pequeñas, but also the social, political, and economic stability of societies worldwide.
Join us in our national campaign to Celebrate Her, highlighting the importance of gender equity in Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and Peru where NPH operates.

Make a gift to support NPH’s girls’ empowerment programs in honor of these inspiring women!

Melissa Mendez began her involvement with NPH in 1998 as an NPH Mexico international volunteer. She has continued to work with youth and families, focusing on childhood trauma, poverty, abuse, and neglect. Melissa captured the love and children of NPH in her book Love Makes Us a Family and looks forward to running on the NPH team in the 2021 Chicago Marathon.
Jody Pongratz, a musician herself, felt called to get involved with NPH in 2013 when a visiting group of pequenos showcased the traditional sounds and dances of Mexico at her church. Jody immediately shared her abundant love by sponsoring a child and has since dedicated her efforts by serving on our Regional Board and connecting countless individuals with NPH’s mission.
Jessica Shanahan leads Rochester community involvement as an NPH traveler, sponsor, and philanthropist. Beyond our organization, Jessica is an advocate for womens’ and girls’ rights. Jessica embodies the importance of unconditional love as she provides her community with events and opportunities to support the NPH family.
