Total Raised at First-ever National Virtual Gala Approaching $1.2 Million

Each fall, NPH USA hosts events across the United States to raise funds for the homes, health services and educational programs of Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH, Spanish for “Our Little Brothers and Sisters”).

This year, due to safety concerns surrounding COVID-19, the organization moved its events online, hosting a single national virtual gala on October 17.

“While we had concerns about moving from our traditional in-person events, our supporters stepped up to the plate and made an amazing difference tonight. They participated in remarkable numbers and gave enthusiastically.” stated John Deinhart, President and CEO of NPH USA.

More than 1,100 people registered for the event which was broadcast on the Auction Harmony platform. A total approaching $1.2 million was raised on the evening, including over $120,000 from an online auction.

The program featured appearances by legendary sportscaster and NPH USA supporter Bob Costas, major league soccer player Andrew Farrell, and philanthropist and author Bill Cummings. Dental school student, Victor Amable de los Santos Jimenez, spoke about his life-changing experience being raised at the NPH home in the Dominican Republic. Clara Grove, who was raised at NPH Mexico, was the emcee and long-time supporter Glen Fladeboe served as auctioneer.

“NPH USA is overwhelmed by the generosity of our event sponsors, participants and donors from across the country and around the world,” said Deinhart. “We are extremely grateful for their support which helps provide thousands of children and families in nine countries with a safe home, nutritious meals, health services and education programs.”
